Our Story

Empowering Mom Warriors—One Connection at a Time

Nancy’s Closet began as a heartfelt response to a personal encounter that mirrored the founder's own experiences. What started as a home-based clothing resource center has blossomed into a sanctuary for single mothers—affectionately termed “Mom Warriors”—seeking support, community, and empowerment.

Founded by Nancy Haggerty, Nancy's Closet is a 501(c)(3) private foundation and a subsidiary of Marketplace Matters. It originated as a home-based clothing resource center, aiming to provide community support without the bureaucracy often associated with demonstrating need. This initiative was inspired by a personal encounter Nancy had with a young girl who reminded her of herself at that age and in a similar situation.

Over the years, the organization has evolved, celebrating its ninth anniversary, and has fine-tuned its efforts to focus primarily on single-parent households.Nancy's Closet serves as a neighborhood resource center where the community can pool their assets to assist with employment, education, and basic domestic needs.

At Nancy’s Closet, we believe in the power of unity: together, we can make a difference. Our mission is to help single moms find their village, understanding that single parenting is filled with both triumphs and challenges.Through our unwavering commitment and marketplace coalition, we strive to create meaningful connections, fostering a network of strength, encouragement, and empowerment.

In a world that often underestimates the power of motherhood, we are here to remind Mom Warriors of their intrinsic worth, beauty, and incredible resilience, combined with their God-given abilities. We are passionate about creating a safe haven where they can find solace, added value, and a sense of belonging.

Join us in rewriting the narrative—proving that united Mom Warriors can move mountains, overcome obstacles, and create a lasting legacy of love and courage, bridled with unstoppable determination.

Welcome to Nancy’s Closet. Welcome to your village.
